Ok. Lets look at averaging. There are 2 types of averaging: 1. On the Spectrolino / Spectroscan you have the option to set the instrument to read up to 5 points per colour patch and ask it to average the readings on the fly. This is a useful feature with certain paper / ink combinations where one reading might not capture the best reading first time. 2. You can read multiple test charts from the same printer and then average the results in Profile Makers - Profile Editor. Clearly this is not something that I have found benefit in. I have looked at various methods of editing and averaging profiles. I have found little or no advantage in the tests that I performed. I hope this clears up the averaging question - from my POV.
