mk2 released in the next 3 months" or "nikon are bound to have something due

Buy it! I paid 4750 for mine about six weeks ago. Just as I bought it,
there went all the rumours about a 16 megapixel 10 frames a second 1DS Mk2.
So what? Even if it was announced tomorrow, you wouldn't get your hands on
one before September - more rolls of film to pay for and by then the new
Kodak 52 megapixel will be out...I now know I waited too long.
Also budget for Capture One software, you'll see why when you use the demo
in the box.

<I have heard great things about the 1ds and it will do all I ask of it (I
mainly shoot stock) but obviously I don't wish to spend nearly 5,000 to

and is of higher spec- any advise ?>

I have a mixture of Sigma and Canon's own lenses. The only thing I didn't
budget for was having to replace the non-Canon lenses so quickly - at 100%
on a profiled screen, there's a big difference in quality. As for the
price - it will always drop, ask anyone who bought one 12 months ago at 7k.
But they've had a years worth of productivity out of it which is undoubtedly
a lot more than any price drop.
My EOS 1 has sat sulking in my office ever since - it's going on Ebay soon
as I can't see a reason to pick it up unless the 1DS goes wrong. My Mamiya
645 will probably go soon too, as soon as I can bring myself to part with
it......;-(

Hope this helps,
