Buy it! I paid 4750 for mine about six weeks ago. Just as I bought it,
there went all the rumours about a 16 megapixel 10 frames a second 1DS Mk2.
So what? Even if it was announced tomorrow, you wouldn't get your hands on
one before September - more rolls of film to pay for and by then the new
Kodak 52 megapixel will be out...I now know I waited too long

Two minutes before starting my first full live digital shoot with my shiny new 1Ds I managed to bust it (NB check your old lenses still have the grub screw which acts as a stop for the bayonet mount!). I had to dig out my trusted old RZ and shoot it on that. The job was an agreed fixed budget. That one job cost me, in material and lab costs, the equivalent of 1 1/2 months lease payments on the 1Ds plus at least a day of scanning, which ranks alongside the cleaning of dishwasher traps in my list of favourite things to do.

That was almost a year ago and was also the last time I picked up the RZ, apart from the time I needed the bag it was in for something else.

If you are even moderately busy and charging for your services appropriately there is no reason to hesitate.

Kind regards
