Yeah, I got your post just after I'd sent mine! I know what you mean about the range of tones etc on the Ultrachromes as I use a profiled 7600 with UC & Hahnemuhle PR 308. I quite like the slightly muted colours and the overall values as they are more 'real' but they are still not 'vibrant' - like you say, the overall impression from the Fotonics with the 1160s is much richer due to the dye based inks.
I would say MOST of my colours on both printers are very accurate but BOTH set-ups struggle with the brightest saturated colours that I'm witnessing on screen, from camera files, especially reds. Do you think a RIP has helped to create stronger, more saturated colours on your 9600 / 1160 etc? This may still be the only real solution?
