I'd guess the engineers are hard pressed enough just cramming all the 
necessary electronics into a space that used to be occupied by the film 
and advance mechanisms to even begin thinking how to incorporate a piezo 
motor into the body.

If you think about it, its somewhat akin to asking for perspective 
controls on a 35mm camera body - why when there are better tools 
available that provide that function.
