After 18 months I still really like the prints from the 2100 on the Ultrachrome inks, at least on matt paper.

But I am fed up with the ink consumption, particularly now that I have run a 7000 on one set of Lyson cartidges for a year.

I havent considered a continuous ink system for the 2100 because I like the look of the Ultrachromes, and the longevity.

How about this as a solution. Buy a CIS, but fill the bottles with ink extracted from the cartridges for the 7600 or 9600.

Has anyone tried this idea out? I cant see any reason why it wouldn't work. Ink is ink isn't it?

Also has anyone found a cheap source for a CIS? The price of these things is pretty insane. 230 quid for some plastic bottles and tubes is about as extortionate as the price of Epson ink.
