Either I'm daft, or I've got a big problem...

Bought a Powerbook on Thursday to use when away from the desk - my first
Mac.
Shot around 2gig RAW files on the 1DS on Friday and downloaded in my hotel
Friday night. Struggled a bit at first as it used iPhoto as the default
folder, before I realised that I can just create a desktop folder and drag
and drop from the card reader. I also accidentally processed some files
straight out of the camera through the Canon software - this might now be a
godsend....

When I look at the files in the folder, they all appear to have a horizontal
line running through and when processed in Canon software, get corrupted
noise out. Tried burning to a disc to view in C1 on my PC, same thing. The
same files I have a copy of in iPhoto and I've noticed have separate folders
titled 'data' and 'thumbs'

The files I processed right out of the camera appear to be OK - there's a 5
gig folder with 31.5Mb tiffs in it, so I hope to be OK with that, however,
the powerbook won't see my external hard drive caddy either in USB or
Firewire, so I can't get them off the powerbook and don't want to touch
them.

Additionally, when I try and run C1, the program loads, then at the last
moment stops and throws up 'the application Capture One DSLR has
unexpectedly quit' I've tried re-installing it, but no go.

Of course, the moral of the story is make sure you're familiar with your kit
before you use it in anger - something I was all too aware of on Thursday
night, but had no choice.

Any help, please, direct as I'm in digest mode.

Feels like I'm right back in 1987 when I first bought a Windows
machine......:-(
