The saga rolls on.... Basically, what happened was that the USB ports appear to be faulty. The card reader works fine with my Windows machine, the 1DS will download direct on the Mac via firewire. Try using the card reader on the powerbook and the files are corrupted.
I have around 5 Gig of processed files on the Powerbook that I need to get off. I tried writing to a pile CDs last night with a big bottle of wine....Sadly, not all the files wrote OK. So today, I'm trying to network the two to rescue my work. Bob Smith kindly offered to talk me through it, but I just noticed he's in Texas, I'm in N. East UK. Right now, I've got the powerbook connecting to the internet via the PC, file sharing on the PC is enabled and it detects the connected crossover cable. I just need to make the final jump to get the two machines visible to each other. There are various web rescources for OXS10.2, but I'm on 10.3 and I get different screens.
