Frank,

But Photography is not just about pressing the shutter is it? was Ansel
Adams not as equally skilled at printing as he was at taking photos? Can you
imagine trying to process another photographers RAW files yourself? The
great thing about digital, is giving control back to the photographer at the
processing stage again, which is like having your own darkroom. In the past,
would you have let someone print your B/W negs if you had a darkroom in the
house? Why leave it up to someone else to interpret how we wanted the image
to look? Even with 500 wedding photos, I would rather process them myself
and with almost a couple of stops either way of extra information in the RAW
file I can get each shot exactly as I want it. Just like a negative there
are many versions of an image that can be rendered from one RAW file. Why
leave that to someone else to do? For instance, white balancing indoors,
sometimes I want a warm finish and sometimes I want a true neutral finish.
Capture One makes this process pretty fast and you don't have to pay someone
to process the image again should you wish to blend several exposures of the
same shot for wide latitude situations.

Subject: [PRODIG] Do Fee for service RAW file processing services exsist?

Hi all,
I am posting this as a new thread, as it has come up separately in several
others relating to digital workflow and I would like to hear other opinions.

Are there any businesses/ business models out there handling this sort of
Stuff....
...Outsourcing the image processing may give me some of this precious time
back. Am I the only one this sounds like a good idea to? Any other points of
view, comments?

Regards,
Frank Styevko, from Australia
