Hi

I've come across this on occasions where the sparkles have saturated the
sensor. Normally I'd try to prevent this at the time by underexposing a bit
more than usual. However I've just been working on a print that exhibits
just this problem (I'd wanted to get some detail out of the shadows and
there was a bright bit of sunlight on water)

Using CS RAW (or your converter of choice ;-) I reduced the exposure a bit
to lower the intensity of the colours. Changing other options did not seem
to help any more so I converted the image. After working on the rest of the
picture I created a H/S layer with ~70% desaturation. With a fine brush I
applied this adjustment to the sparkles (just the brightly coloured bits) At
100% size you can hardly see them any more and on a print there is just
brilliant sparkling water.

In fact I'm just working on a short article for my new web site including
just this :-) It's got screenshots of the problem. Subject to testing the
'all new' site will be up later on Friday.

bye for now
