I remember back in July there was discussion on transferring files -- but
both computers had XP.

Would appreciate help on transferring from Windows 98 PC to Windows XP Pro
in a notebook.

The Windows 98 PC has a parallel port, serial port and a USB 1 (not even
1.1) port.

The notebook has a firewire (IEEE1394) port, four USB 2.0 ports, and a LAN
jack (built in support for Ethernet LAN 10 megabits/second, 10BASE-T; and
Fast Ethernet LAN, 100 megabits/sec). No parallel or serial ports.

My (not very experienced) thought was to install an Ethernet 10/100 Mbps
card (which I have) to a PCI connector in the Windows 98 PC. Then connect
from this card with a Network Crossover Cable to the notebook LAN jack.

But will they talk to each other (W 98 to XP).

Is there a better way?
