I would not be at all interested in keeping old hardware and software versions (I am not a museum). But from a longevity & archival point of view, who can guarantee any particular format will be "in common use" well into the future. A widely adopted DNG would perhaps comes close. Providing for us, now, a more certain future for our images. When a client asks about how long I guarantee prints, I still say, "Till your cheque clears!"
