Most of my images require some enhancement in Lab mode; I have noticed that if the ICC profile embedded is different from the workspace profile, it gets replaced by the workspace profile when the file goes back to RGB. Is it always like that? Why is that so?
When you leave the files RGB space as defined by the profile and convert it to LAB, Photoshop doesn't keep track of what color space the file WAS in, its now in LAB. When you move back to RGB it could be any RGB space. By default it goes to your particular RGB working space as set in your color prefs. If you want something different do a convert to profile from LAB and select whatever RGB space you want.
