Clicio:

Yes, it's like that if you are using "Image >> Mode >> RGB" as that's 
what you have as your working space. 

If you want to retain the original ICC profile (and you have that 
available as an option in your "recommended" or other section in 
photoshop, then use the "Image >> Mode >> Convert to Profile" when 
moving from LAB to the specific ICC profile you want. 

I've adopted this as the only way I will handle conversions, as I work 
on a couple of different machines and often change the working space 
setups depending on the job. Rather than try to remember what the 
working space is at any given time, I just always use the "Image >> 
Mode >> Convert to Profile" and choose the profile I want to convert 
to, and then there's never any confusion.
