All sorted, working fine, thanks for everyones help.
Squirted warmwater down the offending pointy bit in the cartridge carrier with a bit of tube and a syringe. Didn't look like the level was going down in the syringe at all but kitchen towel laid under the head was soaking wet. Then head cleans with cleaning cartridge and printed clear second time.
Now if I can just get the new graphics card working in my sons 'puter I really will be happy!
