Hi

The problem is that due to the high IR sensitivity of silicon detectors,
most chips have IR filters on them ... This also helps stop some clothing
being rendered transparent ;-)

Manufacturers go to some lengths to be able to reproduce the eye's spectral
response, but I believe some old Sony cameras had quite high IR sensitivity
and would take a glass IR transmission filter
