Kodak HIE and Ektachrome IR, and I haven't been that happy with the output
from using photoshop filters, so my question is this; Is there a way of
obtaining purely the near IR output from a raw file from the Fuji? Have
Photoshop CS, and various conversion packages, but can't figure how to do a
selective cut by wavelength. Prob just can't see the woods for the trees,
but any help would be appreciated!

Matt

I agree that the Photoshop approach to IR isn't very successful. I've shot
with my D1X and a Wratten 87 filter and it works well - the same look as
Kodak HIE. The down-side is that the Wratten 87 is remarkably black so you
can't see what you're doing (though that would be no different from when you
used the filter on your film camera), and the IR sensitivity is somewhat
marginal. You end up with an effective "film-speed" that would have pissed
off Fax Talbot, a lot less than 1ASA. So, be prepared a) for a dose of
digital noise, and b) to use a tripod. Of course the S2 Pro sensor may
behave quite differently to the D1X in which case you'll either have
fantastically terrific images or it'll be a complete waste of time.

Best of luck.
