I would stay away from monitors that max out at 1280 x 1024 ppi resolution. You will need two to do any work with speed and comfort in Photoshop. If you can afford it, go for a 20" minimum screen size. The 20" models that I have looked max out at 1680 x 1050 ppi, which should give you ample desk space without having to squint.
