Its been a LONG time coming...

If any of you have wondered just how long it could possibly take for us to
FINALLY get the permits and the money and the plans and the contractor and
all of that stuff to come together so that we could start building our
house... On an undeveloped 20 acre oak woodland parcel we bought almost SIX
YEARS AGO... Well, this is it!!!

Our house plans were approved by the county in March 2006. Our home loan
funded at the end of May. Steve is pulling our permit at the county RIGHT
NOW.

That means we can go from living in a 30' RV to living in an actual, bolted
to concrete, stick-built house a *mere* nine months from now as long as some
reasonable amount of good fortune holds up.

In addition.... There are two guest rooms going in and lots of camping space
for the visitors we hope will come (if you build it they will come). We are
selling off two 5-acre parcels to help pay for this money pit, but we still
get to keep 10 acres for our own selves.

I am very happy to go from waiting to build to BUILDING. This has been a
very long time coming. A photo of a similar house can be seen at
http://www.shamrocktrails.com/ranch/house/

We'll start posting in-process photos at that location as soon as there's
anything interesting to look at.
