What about starting without the batteries? Tie into the house panel so
that when the sun is shining, you're using the PV electric first,
reducing the pull from the power company? Sure, when the electric goes
out, you're still without power, but it's the cheapest way to start.
Then gradually start to build your battery bank as you can afford it.
