So, what's you goal? Are you trying to avoid the burden of setting up ODBC on client workstations? If you're determined to continue coding in VFP, I don't think there are a lot of good options.
This is what I had pretty much figured. I didn't really have any goal when posting the question, it was more for me to get some insight into how it works and what options are available.
His main concern to me was that ODBC offers limited support of the functionality needed, compared to what PHP can do natively. Surely, it can't be too bad as many Fox apps use ODBC to connect to backends all the time..
