<<Is it the vendors responsibility to VALIDATE the age of the user? >>

I don't believe so. If they ask and are lied to, I think it stops right
there. Should I be able to sue my auto maker because my kids grabbed my
keys and was able to drive a car under age and without a license? I mean my
vehicle doesn't validate the drivers age. Should it? Certainly not. (BTW,
this didn't really happen, just trying to make a point).

Really if anything, the DA should charge the parents with child
endangerment. My Space has been all over the news about being frequented by
on-line stalkers. I know I absolutely refuse to let my kids use it.

The attitude in this country of "it's always someone else's fault that
something that happened to me (or I did something)" is getting totally
absurd.

Jim.

BTW, should not this be on the off-topic list?

Subject: [NF] Is MySpace at fault?

Is it the vendors responsibility to VALIDATE the age of the user?

I hear our customer support gals talk to parents all the time about the
child taking the parents checking account info and using it for online
porn. Probably 20-50 pissed off parents a week. And our client base is
nowhere in scope compared to MySpace.

The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the
right time, but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting
moment.
