There's sort of a link.

We run a (paper only) magazine and have done for nearly six years.
It currently has a subscription list of between three and four
hundred, which I would like to extend significantly. Our current
subscription model is to subscribe for six issues (which lasts a
year). What I want to do is start distributing it electronically as
well.

Not being completely comfortable just trusting the integrity of the
world at large of course some kind of control requirement comes to
mind.

A recent thought was to use a pdf format and stamp each copy with a
user code, not so much control as tracking I suppose.

Then I remembered eBooks (again).

The VFP link is that the subscription database is (of course) written
in VFP. At publication I (think I) want VFP to rattle through the
distribution list, producing files either locked or stamped for
individual subscribers. I don't want subscribers to have to fiddle
with each issue in order to read it.

It looks like eBook software is rather limited in respect of this,
either requiring the recipient or, almost as bad, us, to enter
something manually for each copy.

The pdf route at least seems to offer sdk-type solutions that could
be linked in to VFP easily (hah!).

Has anyone got any experience of this type of thing? Any words of
wisdom, suggestions, or pointers gratefully received.

It's fine, all shout at once 8-)
