I think using waste vegetable oil makes a lot of
sence.  Fry up some french fries, then run your car
with it.

I also wonder whether corn is the best crop for bio
fuel.  Maybe sugar cane would be better? 

Finally, a electric hybrid that can go the first 50
miles on electric only makes the best sence.  I drive
over 50 miles only about once a week.  I would love to
plug my car in overnight and drive on electric only to
the local clients and stores.

We have a battery-operated black and decker lawnmower
that we just changed the battery.  It runs like a
champ, never doesn't start, doesn't require oil, can
be stored in the basement for the winter, no gasoline
to store around the house, it is just great.  I bet
car would be just as great.
