That's what I've got (T-Mobile branded Vario).  It's awesome!

I got mine for £15 pounds due to plan I signed up for and I am extremely happy 
with the choice!  The slide out keyboard rocks!

I love my Vario!  If you go for something like this, then look at the HTC 
Hermes (Vario 2).

Anyway, what capabilities are you looking for, Stephen?  The Cingular
8125/HTC Wizard I've got does push email, which Blackberries does as
well (everyone here at work has one, they seem to work as advertised).
 Beyond that, the 8125 gives a reasonable web browser and a data
connection.  If it's of any value to you, developing for the 8125 on
Windows Mobile is a doddle if you've already got VS.
