I have used satellite for TV for over 6 years and use the satellite Internet (SI) for about a year. SI is not too bad when the alternative is dial up. The cost is up there ($600 to start for equipment). I now use a local guy who sends out WISP and it is better. In answer to the base question, it depends. 8-) Really, it depends on what services do you have in your area. Need to compare cost and channel choices. When I first bought my house I could not find much info on the cable TV service so I went with satellite first Dish and that failed for some reason then DirecTV (which I still use). David L.
