load data infile works fine for regular data
I use copy to type CSV to prepare the data...
But for blobs you have do something else.. .
p.s. read up on load data [local] Very helpful when you are using a
different server from your local machine - for deployment.

You are on the right track...
Whil Hentzen (hentzenwerks.com) is working on a new book that address
exactly what you want - VFP w/ mySQL. I've been doing some reviewing and
it looks like an excellent resource. Maybe Whil might chime in here with
when it will be available.
Another good book on C/S from a VFP point of view is Chuck Urweiler's
Client Server w/ VFP book - check out the hentzenwerk website for it. Hope
it's still available. It deals with mostly MS SQL Server as the backend
but most of the principles should apply.
Or just try and muck about and when you screw something up - come to us
for help... <g>
