I've been a Christian for nearly 40 years and haven't ever been willing to
swallow the "evangelical" story line whole even when I was 14 years old. If
you really think you can convince me of something by finding some verses go
for it. The PhD's in Bible haven't even convinced me that there is a
trinity. I don't believe there are three parts and only three parts to God
so there's just nowhere for that argument to go.

That's pretty much where I stand myself. The "good news" of the Gospel is
the sacrifice that the bible indicates was in the works since the beginning
of creation happened. IOW, it was always the intent of God to sacrifice
Jesus, and therefore all who came before or after the sacrifice were covered
by it. It was the "perfect sacrifice" so to speak, which did not have to be
repeated like the old testament blood sacrifices of animals. What I submit
is that if those who came before are covered by it (e.g. David, Solomon,
John the Baptist, etc.) then who is to say that others outside are not also
covered by it?

We do not know. Again, I say it. We do not know.

I am so sick of people that will come right out and say that they know
Gandhi is in hell. They know nothing of the sort. They don't know (1) what
hell actually is, (2) whether it is eternal, etc., etc. The universe is
large. We are small. We have a LOT to learn. Our minds should be open, and
yet so many are closed because they have concluded they've already got it
all figured out.
