The other thread about the zero day exploit got me to thinking....
As I mentioned, I'm not particularly worried about Windows viruses, spy-ware, or my kids doing screwball things on the computer. Not because I'm ignorant, necessarily (ignorant isn't the same as stupid, right?), but because I've looked at the pros and cons and decided, in a pragmatic sense, that these aren't things that should be high on my list.
They may well be high on someone else's list, of course, either through ignorance of the real risks, or because of factors that differ from my own, or from factors that they're exposed to outside of their control.
Case in point - I'm much more concerned about my kids playing nasty games like GTA3 - because their cousins all play it, and my in-laws don't seem to think it's a problem for 12 year old boys to get their rocks off by killing hookers. "It's only a game, you know." My kids have been told that when that sh&t shows up on the console at a cousin's house, they're to leave the room, but kids are kids....
So, what technology-type things scare you the most?
