I found a piece of software that's doing what I need. It's called
Audacity and it's free (as in freedom, not free as in free beer).

http://audacity.sourceforge.net/

All I needed software for was to chop up one long 2 hour recording
session into individual songs and then edit 3 tracks of mono wav files
in each song (many takes need to be consolidated) so that they stay
synchronized (Vocal, 2 guitar tracks). I couldn't do this in WaveLab --
it's only 2 track. Cubase LE wouldn't allow the edits to be saved as new
WAV files thus my search.

Once I've finished editing them I'll copy them to my new (wonderful)
Korg D888 workstation (which is the ONLY workstation that presents its
entire 40Gig hard drive as an external USB2 drive) and record the rest
of the tracks on the D888. Then I'll use the D888 as a playback machine
(much like an ADAT) into my fancy analog mixer, effects setup direct to
2 track on the computer. Some of this new stuff is neat but some of the
old stuff is still pretty damn good.

Cheers and thanks:

Chet
