Linux of course being renowned for its PCMCIA and wireless support ;)

In my case, I've generally had better luck with Linux than with Windows (I'm using Ubuntu at the moment). That means I've had to take fewer trips to the Internet looking for drivers, patches, etc. (Hmmm... but I wonder if the Ubuntu is doing that automatically for me.... ). But then I haven't done as much hardware fiddling with the Linux box (haven't had to - performance has always been great regardless of which Linux distro I used).

And, to be fair, I haven't fiddled much with the hardware in the 1 XP box I have. I'm afraid to. I don't want my system to 'deactivate' on me. ;-) (But I've been helping with the computers at my kids' school - all upgraded to XP SP 2, but on older computers - and that has been quite a troublesome experience regarding device drivers, etc).

I'll stand by my 'quicker shutdown' recommendation.... (hee hee)
