Here's one we are using - too early to tell on how effective it will be. I suggested it to the person who is managing one of our projects who isn't the most software savvy. If it looks too simple, you're probably right.

But it's free (for one project) and pretty straight forward:

p.s. these folks attracted my attention about a year ago when I heard about a 'book' they did on their software development techniques called something like "Getting Real" - take a look for it on their site... pushes some conventional wisdom out the door but it's hard to argue with their results... more of an "very interesting read" rather than a "must read"....

I'm curious what everyone out there uses to track their projects and to deliver reasonable estimates on meeting project deadlines and/or milestones, whether you are a consultant or employee? Are you using home brew software or someone else's product(s)?

One of the companies I work with has recently decided they want more stringent time & accountability from me and of course improved project completion estimates. I'm looking to see if software can help me accomplish this easily, w/o impacting my productivity using the software.

Thanks-
Steve
