What is worse is that some companies do spam on the upright. How do you
separate the good from the bad? And how do you deal with the 5 in a hundred
that receive the good spam, and get irritated and flag this messaging as
SPAM and it's BAD?

This is a very ugly black hole to get into. Much like your normal snail
mail delivery you have to discard what you don't want. We are lucky that we
can set filters, or buy into third parties who do the same thing with
reaction from a group off the internet.
