I have been using SyncBack for 2 years for HDD-to-HDD backups, and LOVE it! If you are running XP Home or Pro, or 2003 Server, with NTFS on a local HDD, and if VSS (Virtual ShadowCopy Service) is running, it will copy Open Files with no File Open Errors. I had been using SecondCopy previously, but with the VSS utilization with SyncBack I cut & ran <g>! The latest SecondCopy still does not support VSS, which is a shame as otherwise it is just a nice at SyncBack.
A note re: SyncBack licensing. If you use SyncBack for home PCs one license covers up to 5 PCs. For business use you are expected to pay one license per PC. At $25 per license it is cheap at twice the price. It works equally well on Client PC as with Server class PCs. An aside, if you use SyncBack be sure to export your settings once you have it set up. If you have to restore the settings without the Export File, well, you can't. I save my settings Export file on my Client/Server PCs, and SyncBack places copies on the Target Backup HDD units for my PCs.
