I use Cablevision and no matter how many times I try to get a different IP, I cannot get it to change. It has changed maybe 3 times in the 4 years at my present location.
Mine changes whenever they upgrade the system on their end. Maybe every other year.
So, Ed, how does one get around the problem of a web- or list- server IP address changing? Thanks.
If it changes often, you use a daemon to regularly ping your DNS server with your domain and current IP address. In my case, when it changes I manually update ZoneEdit.
Mail is trickier, since most ISPs block known dynamic IP ranges. I have to route mail to many people through a fixed-IP server, which has been provided by Derek Kalweit. So how about a round of virtual applause out there for Derek for helping to bring ProFox to everyone!
