Seriously, this is NOT a case of "slimy Republicans". It's just slimy,
period, regardless of party. And yeah, the opposing party is going to
make the most of it, just as the Republicans will do (and should do!)
*when* a Democrat gets caught doing the same thing. It would be exactly
as slimy if it had been a Democrat. I think to try and blame the uproar
on party grounds doesn't make sense, and I hope I'm entirely wrong in my
impression that that's what you've decided to do.
