=> Subject: [NF] Change Name of User and Folders
=>
=> I need to change the name of the User's Folders.
=>
=> When I mounted XP Home, I put in my name:
=>
=>          Charles Enzer
=>
=> XP then called the User [Charles Enzer] and in [Documents
=> and Settings]:
=>
=> The %UserProfile% was [Charles.Enzer]
=>
=> I then created another account, [XYZ].
=>
=> I moved all the folders from [Charles Enzer] to [XYZ] and
=> deleted the User [Charles Enzer].
=>
=> I renames the [XYZ] user to [Charles] and rebooted.
=>
=> XP then called the User [Charles.MyComputer] and created
=> %UserProfile% = [Documents and Settings/Charles.MyComputer].
=>
=> How do I change the User from [Charles.MyComputer] to
=> [Charles] and the profiles from [Documents and
=> Settings/Charles.MyComputer] to [Documents and Settings/Charles]?
=>
=> Similarly, in SafeMode User [Administrator] has a user
=> profile of [Administrator.TOSHIBA-USER]
=>
=> Note: [User Accounts] won't let me do this.
=>
=> Similarly, [Administrator] has become
=> [Administrator.MyComputer] and %UserProfile% = [Documents
=> and Settings/Administrator.TOSHIBA-USER].
=>

=> --  Charles --

The reason you cannot do this is because the profiles are maintained by SID in
the registry. It does not matter what you call the user or the files. If you
are identified as a particular SID when you logon, you will get the profile
associated with that SID. If there is no profile, a new one is created. If
there is an inaccessible profile (like when you delete the files but not the
registry entry) you get a temporary profile.

I am not sure how domains are handled on XP Home.
