Also keep in mind that many advancements in metadata storage and
retrieval for graphics files are planned for the next release of windows
which should include a nifty api. Unless your needs are profoundly
deeper than you've related here, I'd do some research & perhaps, wait a
bit.

Subject: Design question

I have been asked to design an application to manage folders of image
files (these are scanned images) The images need to be retrieved on the
basis of 1 or more attributes. An example may make this clear.

Image1 is an image of two people (Fred and Tom) taken in 1987 in
Lowestoft
Image2 was taken in London in 2004
Image3 is an image of Paul (don't know when or where it was taken)

In order to be able to retrieve images based on one or more attributes I
am considering setting up a table like this

KeyType KeyValue Image

Name Fred Image1
Name Tom Image1
Place Lowestoft Image1
Year 1987 Image1
Place London Image2
Year 2004 Image2
Name Paul Image3

etc etc

The idea is to give flexibility to the number of different KeyTypes

Comments ? Suggestions ?

Thanks
