I used to work for a company that charged their clients $125/hour for any
type of support (including bugs, but that's another post).
One client in particular had a huge problem with viruses, Trojans, worms,
etc. But, they were always happy to have me come out and spend 4 hours
'cleaning' up for them (and invoicing $500).
I complained to my boss once that it seemed excessive to charge so much for
(what I believed to be) so little, but my boss said, "Kevin, they're not
paying for the work you do, they are paying for the KNOWLEDGE you have."
Same story with the car in the auto repair shop. Mechanic listens to the
car for a minute, opens the hood, takes out a screwdriver and gives a
screw a half turn.
$75.
"WHAT?"
"Oh, it's just a nickel for turning the screw. It was $74.95 for knowing
WHICH screw to turn and HOW MUCH to turn it."
