There is no motive for President Obama to destroy the economy. On the contrary, President Obama is doing everything in his power to improve the economy; because, his re-election may depend on it.
However, the Republican party is benefiting from the sluggish economy, which has pushed President Obama's rating to all time lows. The Republicans would like the economy and employment to remain weak through 2012; because, it boasters their chances of capturing the White House and congress in the November 2012 elections. As a matter of fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Republican control congress, or the Senate by way of the filibuster, block President Obama's soon to be announce economic recovery plans. The USA has become so divided that economic health and the unemployed will likely be sacrificed; because, it would benefit the Republican Party's chances in the 2012 elections.
