Google "mysql locking" to start. Next time it happens you should determine what locks (if any) are open, to eliminate table or row locking contention from the possible problems. Paul I was using a TABLELOCK until a few weeks ago, then I rewrote the procedure...now, I'm lock free except for the locks that MySQL decides to use internally. (assuming it does so.) Thanks, I have Googled till my eyes are crossing, but most links are for using MySQL with PHP or other web-server centric situations where you have little if any control over the number of simultaneous connections.
