Or terminal services/remote desktop.  Runs just like a local app.

You don't need to provide the whole desktop to the user, you can just
serve your app.
(Of course, this requires a Windows Terminal Server)

We're seriously considering implementing this and leasing software to
the customer.
The advantage is that all the configuration is server side and no
messy client software getting in the way (antivirus etc).
