Meaning you're not going to re-design it.  That's fine.

You are still going to have to re-write large sections of the code.
I'd start by trying to simply run it under VFP9
    do MyOldPOS
and see where it comes apart.

I did one conversion as a fixed-price contract.  I contracted to do it 
for $9,000, which was a stretch for my client financially, and it cost 
me almost exactly twice as many hours as I estimated.  We're all happy 
with the results, but converting from FPW to VFP is kind of like cancer 
treatment - it takes a lot of effort and you don't get over it right away.
