It's been a long time since I've dealt with SQL Passthrough versus Remote Views in VFP, so I won't argue very hard. Things may have changed for the better after VFP8, or perhaps I was never doing it right, but I tried to get remote views working reliably before switching to SQL passthrough, and I got pretty far but the DBC would eventually get corrupt with remote views, and parameterized remote views couldn't be shared among multiple users because of 'view definition has been changed'. SQL Passthrough, for me at least, was much simpler to implement and deal with in the end, and completely reliable. I could build my own local parameterized views in code (local DBC for each user), make them updatable, and have the best of all worlds.
