I agree 100% and have it much faster, cheaper, and more reliable to use a 3rd party SMTP service. There are a variety of low cost SMTP service providers to choose from, my service of choice is http://fastmail.fm ($20-$40 year) which has a ton of options and a great track record. Fastmail is now owned by the vendor that produces the Opera browser.
