I gambled on dBase and then Fox before MS bought it. Then, when MS did
buy Fox, I felt much better about the bet, but it was still a risk, but
one I was willing to accept.

I see PC's this way because I keep expecting them to catch up to - and
maybe surpass - what mainframes have been doing for ages. But from this
point of view, PC's are still primitive, and therefore highly subject to
revision.

Unix/Linux/Windows .. have no batch processing facility that compares to
IBM's JES. In a substantial computing environment, not only does JES
exist, but it's vital to the operations of a data center, which has
other requirements besides doing what we do with personal computers.
Because PC hardware has grown so much, I think it's reasonable to expect
that software will catch up. Then, when I see highly industrious people
in other countries getting more and more involved, it's actually easy to
see them producing something out of left field that we don't expect
today.

Again, it was not my intention to knock or detract from Python/Dado. I
do wish you success with it, and if the opportunity arises, I'll try to
help at some point. But right now, I've got all I can do to finish what
I started with VFP.
