yes, that is the code I was referring to when writing "... but found
some code in the VFPX DA thread and managed to have it registered." But
something isn't apparently "just right" in my case, I guess...

You need to run the VFPAlerts.exe with the /RegServer parameter. Depending
on the OS you might have to do this with Administrator privileges.
