I agree Pete. I've heard loads of bitching about redistribution of income from an income tax, that uses progressively higher rate as an individual's income increases, but what about the government's distribution of income to multi-millionaires and billionaires, including their corporations and special interests. Multi-millionaires and billionaires only comprise a very small percent of the USA population. Also, the Supreme Court's ruling in "Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission", which rolled back restriction on campaign contributions, needs to be reversed, but not in a way that set a precedent limiting first amendment rights to free speech. In a democracy people make their voices heard by voting their convictions. If multi-millionaires, billionaires and their corporations are allowed to make unlimited political contributions, they can drowned out the voice of ordinary, rational citizen with campaigns so rich they overwhelming rational thinking and embed misinformation and fear in all its many forms, in the minds of the USA population. If successful, the voices heard on election day from most citizen would only be an echo planted deep in the subconscious of the voter by those who control mass media, which has, and currently is, undergoing consolidation into fewer and fewer hands. Citizens need free, equal access to all the information, if they are to make an informed vote on election day. Congress need to enact campaign reform limiting political contributions, and have it taken to the Supreme Court, so the Supreme Court can overturn "Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission". Limited campaign contributions would better equalize the resources available to each campaign, so the citizen could have full access to all information about political platforms. Only then would citizens be able to express an informed, rational voice on election day.
