Depends on the use case. For relational servers, PostgreSQL is my
choice. For embedded, SQLite and Firebird are excellent. If you need both
server and embedded, Firebird looks like a winner. For object databases,
Cassandra kicks ass.
All of these are free (cost) and open source. They all perform at a
level that exceeds Valentina, so why would I possibly consider buying a
proprietary product like that?
