Nope. This is a function they are putting into desktop (and I presume server) versions of Windows 8. I guess that's part of that "new experience" MS is hyping about. The article compared it to phones because Apple has something similar for the iPhone and Google has something for Android (although I've got a droid and I don't recall seeing notice of an auto-zapper. But they can zap an app off the "market"). But nope, this is tried and true MS Big Brother. What will really be interesting to watch is when a virus hijacks the function and hoses up a few million PCs. And by the way, note that not only are apps targeted, but any user data as well. No wonder MS wants us to make sure and put things under "My Documents" or whatever their "windows" standard is. Of course, with this function it wouldn't matter where you put your apps because MS's code could get to it anywhere anyway. -Charlie _______________________________________________ Post Messages to: [email protected] Subscription Maintenance: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profox OT-free version of this list: http://leafe.com/mailman/listinfo/profoxtech Searchable Archive: http://leafe.com/archives/search/profox This message: http://leafe.com/archives/byMID/profox/[email protected] ** All postings, unless explicitly stated otherwise, are the opinions of the author, and do not constitute legal or medical advice.
